MyCam has no account, no cloud, and no ads. Your phone's camera feed goes straight to your own PC over USB or your local network, and nowhere else. This page explains exactly what that means.

Nothing to sign up for, nothing tied to your identity.
Video travels directly from your phone to your PC.
No telemetry, no crash reporting SDKs, no trackers.
Every one of these claims is checkable in the code.
MyCam turns your phone into a webcam for your Windows PC. The video (and, for the iPhone page, motion sensor data used to steady and orient the feed) is captured on your phone and sent directly to the MyCam companion app running on your own PC — over a USB cable, or over your local Wi-Fi network. MyCam doesn't run any server of its own, doesn't relay your stream through the internet, and doesn't send it to the developer or any other third party. When your PC and phone talk over Wi-Fi, they have to be on the same local network; MyCam cannot see or stream your camera from outside it.
Each permission exists to make the webcam work, and for nothing else:
A PC has to be explicitly allowed by the phone before it receives real video, even after it's been paired once — scanning a QR code or entering a pairing code gives a PC permission to pair, not to watch. While a PC is paused or hasn't been allowed yet, it only ever sees a static "camera paused" picture, never a live or frozen frame.
The Windows companion writes a log file to your own PC, at %LOCALAPPDATA%\MyCam\mycam.log,
to help diagnose connection problems. It stays on your machine — MyCam never uploads it anywhere — and it
never contains pairing codes, QR addresses, or tokens.
MyCam's PC companion is built on a small number of open-source libraries — libusb, qrcodegen, and the UsbDk driver — each bundled or installed locally to talk to your phone over USB and generate pairing QR codes. None of them phone home or collect data on MyCam's behalf.
MyCam doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, because it doesn't collect personal information at all.
If this policy changes, the update will be committed to the same open-source repository as everything else, with the date above kept current. Since MyCam doesn't collect contact details, there's no mailing list to notify — check this page, or the repository's history, for the latest version.
